Description

Street Photography, 2022 – Shinjuku, Tokyo
Photographed by Goro – one loud image

Nobumichi Akashi, the architect of this very building, described his design as anchored solely in the fast pace of Tokyo and in the present moment. It resembles a stack of twisted bolts, located in Shinjuku’s busy area next to the station’s east exit.
The facade is made of steel, the light installation however awards the exterior a warm and golden shine.

The 1969 constructed building is famous for the restaurant “Kakiden”, which occupies 4 of the 9 floors, the Kokin Salon on the 6th, the Yasuyo Hall on the 7th, western guestrooms on the 8th, and traditional Japanese tatami rooms on the 9th floor.

The kaiseki restaurant on the basement floor includes an art gallery and the remaining floors are used as office and conference spaces.
